STRONG ASIAN MOTHERS HARD TO FIND

Our obsession with the London-based trio Strong Asian Mothers seems unlikely to let up anytime soon, especially if they keep turning out left-field pop gems like ‘Hard To Find’. Centred around their enduring incentive to make music for their friends to dance to, ‘Hard To Find’ is a melodic arrangement of squeaking synth keys, sampled sighs, moving percussion and a heavy-handed drum pad. You can hear how well vocalist/keyboardist/guitarist Kalim Patel, drummer Josh Stadlen and synth/samples man Amer Chadha-Patel work together; their live performance's energy is tangible even here. This track is probably one of their more laid-back affairs, particularly through the dreamy synth-laden verses as they set out grand plans for a night out. As the band further explain, ‘Hard To Find’ is “about the unrivalled feeling of chasing/achieving that great night out, meeting new people and forging unforgettable connections, dancing to your heart's content, letting a night take you anywhere, and perhaps meeting someone special in the process... That and Wally. Where is that guy? He's hard to find sometimes." Whether you’re looking for soulmate or Wally (perhaps both), Strong Asian Mothers lay down an experience we can all relate to. - HT
